I'm just on an IP role today. Copyrights
strike again! Is it really a big problem that people are downloading images on
the web and taking them to photolabs to be printed? I wouldn't think so. The only
reason I can think of as to why someone would do that is to get a 8 x 10 or larger
of something they found on the internet. However, for the printed photo to look
good; you're going to want it in a resolution like 3264 x 2448. I'm not sure about
you, but I don't know where one goes to download pictures in that resolution without
the artist's permission. If someone brings in a CD or memory card that has a picture
in that resolution chances are they really took it. About the only way I could see
an average person stealing an image of that high-quality would be if they already
had a printed copy, scanned it in with a VERY HIGH QUALITY scanner, photoshopped it
a bit to clean it up, and then brought it in to the photolab.

I'm generally pretty happy with my congresscritters, but I wish they were a little
more active in the IP arena. Rep. Rick Boucher says all the right things
in his
interview in Wired Magazine.

Say what you will about Mark Cuban. I don't always agree with him myself. But I
haven't seen anyone else in the industry get it "right" as often as he does. Just listen
to this. Bravo!

People believe some really stupid things. There are the people who think the world is
flat. Some others think the world is only 6000 years
old. Some crazies think Sun
Myung Moon is the messiah. Some think that no plane hit the Pentagon on
9/11. There are people who claim the moon landings were
faked, and even those who don't believe in the
moon at all. These guys base their
entire religion on some magic plates that no one has ever seen. As I've said
before, the scientologists
believe the galactic overlord Xenu is imprisoned in a mountain somewhere.

Of course we all know Tom
Cruise is completely nuts. Now I don't want to get sued for libel or anything,
but how many 43 year old men are interested in dating 26 year old virgins who have
vowed not to have sex until they are married? After you've been divorced twice?
And after you adopted two children? Not only that, you attended seminary school and
wanted to be a priest. I'll let you make up your own mind.
Of course I really don't care if anyone is gay or not. I'm more interested in
ripping scientology. Now I don't have much use for any religion, but I have an
astound hatred of scientology. Of course, my anger always stops me from
articulating well when I try to explain the nuances of the galactic overlord Xenu.
So I've decided to let much more qualified people do the talking. Here is the plain English
explanation of Xenu. Pretty scary, huh?

I just couldn't resist:
When Jennifer Aniston is watching TV and that
"Mr. and Mrs. Smith" commercial comes on, does she just start throwing things? And
who would be the best revenge boyfriend for her? I'd go with Wilmer Valderrama if I
were her. That would drive me crazy knowing that my ex-wife was dating Wilmer
Valderrama. I wouldn't be able to handle it. Wait, he's like 5-foot-6! He has a
lisp! What do people see in this guy? I'd be obsessed. Anyway, that should be her
move. Either him or Michael Clarke Duncan.
You should definately read the rest here.

...But I have to admit I found a link to it on the Sports
Guy's Intern's Links of the Day. So, who's going to buy
this for me, and more importantly why is Amazon trying to bundle it with The
Killers - Hot Fuss? Is there something about the Killers that I just don't
understand?

I knew
there had to be a reason Kathrine was marrying me! After years of searching, I
finally found it. If you get a chance browse that site... it's completly weird!

I know most people don't care. And the Pistons/Spurs matchup is about the worst
possible combination for the fianls. But the Sports
Guy's take is worth reading anyway. Since I know most of you won't read it
anyway, I'm going to quote my favorite part. Who knew he actually listened to
music:
And since I need a new cause, I'm making it my mission to
convince sports TV execs that music has actually been released since 1985. You may
remember my starting this crusade back in the 2004 ALCS when Fox kicked off Game 1
with Billy Squier's "Rock Me Tonight," which came out a good 20 years ago. And ever
since then, I've been noticing how nobody can ever kick off a telecast with a recent
song. For instance, during the Suns-Spurs series, ESPN actually dragged out Phil
Collins' "In The Air Tonight" as the running background music for the opener and
commercial breaks in Game 3. Are you kidding me?

I ran into an article on
Wired about BBS: The
Documentary. It filled me with great nostalgia. From there I actually
discovered this list of
BBS's in my old area code. That just brought the memories flooding back. Is
anyone up for a little Trade Wars 2002? Or maybe you'd
prefer Land of
Devestation? Perhaps Legend of
the Red Dragon, though I prefered Usurper. And though I
never got into it, I seem to remember Wronowski and Moradi being big into Solar
Realms Elite.
