Since I posted about Nerdcore yesterday, and obviously no one read it or followed the
links, I'm going to give you some lyrics to contemplate from MC+Plus:
My flow is so intense that I will overflow your buffer,
Corrupt your stack pointer makin' all your data suffer.
I've got saturated edges but your flow is sparser,
Real gangstas sip on Yacc; instead you generate a parser.
While you're busy poppin' stacks I'll pop a cap in your skull,
While you smoke your crack pipe I'm gonna pipe you to /dev/null.
I may not have a label but I rap like a star;
I'm an unsigned long int and you're an 8-bit char.
Your mom circulates like a public key,
Servicing more requests than HTTP.
She keeps all her ports open like Windows ME,
Oh, there's so much drama in the PhD.
BTW, I have links too:
- Slate - This
article explores an idea that I have had kicking around in my skull for sometime,
that Owen Wilson was an integral part to the success of the first three Wes Anderson
movies.

When walking to lunch today I had an epiphany. Across the street from my building is
a Subway. I was walking in the opposite direction, yet I saw two people walking
toward me both holding Subway bags and sandwiches. This means that there must be a
Subway somewhere in the direction they came from, that is also within walking
distance of my building. This got me to thinking, in any major city (500,000+
people) are you ever not within walking distance of a Subway? Are there more
Subways out there than Starbucks? Someone needs to look into this.
Well enough of that, how about some links:
- Slate - An
explanation about why some of the Geico commercials rock (Tiny House) and why some
of them suck (the stupid gecko).
- How Stuff Works - Ever
wonder how pop rocks are made or am I the only one?
- Smooth Operator -
Yes, I know this is fake.

Sorry there were no links yesterday. I'll try to make up for it by giving you more
than your fair share today. If you already read this, I apologize. Because I just
found something so funny, that I had to post it.
- The
Globe and Mail - Maybe this explains why Kathrine always claims to be freezing at
work?
- Washington
Post - Big business proving once again they only care about profit. Human
rights, free speech, completely unimportant
- Cendella
- The worst album covers of all time. Apparently they never saw a Nigel Peppercock
album. (Please note that I did not link to Nigel Peppercock. I do not wish to
traumatize anyone. Google them if you must.

Enough Poker talk, how about some links?
- Yahoo
News - Red Bull wreaks havoc!
- BoingBoing
- Google to the rescue. Just try to remember how cool Google once was before it
becomes self aware and starts exterminating humanity.
- Seattle
Times - Apparently the squirrels have joined forces with the eco-terrorists to
burn down encroaching development
- NWA
Online - Apparently in Arkansas basketball players can't have hobbit hair. If
they think that hair is offensive, they should watch a sonics game with Valdimir
Radmonovich and Danny Fortson

Okay, play along with me. You're sitting at the poker table playing 8 handed texas
hold'em. You're on the button. The blinds are $1-$2 and there are currently 4
callers. You have about $300 in chips sitting in front of you. You look down at
A-8 off suit. Normally this isn't a very powerful hand, but there has been no raise
yet, and you think you might already have the best hand or might be able to get a
better (but still not overly powerful) hand to fold. You raise to $10. Both blinds
fold, but the original 4 callers call.
You would have preferred some more players to fold; until you see the flop, which
comes down as A-8-8. Now the only hand better than yours is A-A and you know it's
not out there. The first two players check and the third bets $5 into you.
You consider just calling as the other three players may also call the $5, but
decide instead to lay down a good size raise, making it $25 to go. The first three
fold and the original bettor calls the extra $20.

Well, I'm about to be off for my monthly poker game. Everyone wish me luck because I
need a new pair of shoes! Other
than that nothing substantial is going on except the fact that the Mariners look
like they're about to announce some kind of roster move. Anyway, on to the
links:
- eBay
- That's no moon, it's a subwoofer! This certainly looks cool, although based on the
specs; I doubt it's much louder or effective than what I already have.
- eBay
- Would you like to buy the domain of a CIA front? Shouldn't the CIA set up fake web
pages for their fronts?
- Wikipedia - Ever wanted
to know the history of the heavy metal umlaut? Now you can!
- Wikipedia - I didn't
actually know there was anyone who looked at the infinite monkey theorem in such
detail.
- Seattle
Times - In case you needed more gruesome details of the bestiality farm I linked
to last week.
- ESPN - Why is it that the more
rich and famous one gets, the more free shit they're given?

Well, I did my good deed for the century. I found a wallet at my bus stop this
morning and took time out of my oh-so-busy day to find the owner and return it to
him. I feel like I should get a cookie or something.
I had a pretty light weekend as weekends go. Our wedding invitations are just about
ready to go out. That will be a major relief. Kathrine and I also completed session
2 of our pre-marital counseling on Sunday. This time it required actually attending
church, but that was much less painful then I remember as a child. Plus the sermon
was actually quite enjoyable, and in the great Lutheran tradition less than 15
minutes long.
We did not attend the baseball game on Saturday. Between house work, invitations,
getting to bed early, and Harry Potter there just wasn't time. And speaking of
Harry Potter, I have finished the book. I'm just waiting to have someone else done
so that I can discuss it with them.
Since I'm talking about books, I've actually read quite a bit the past few weeks.

A slow Friday here. I've got to get the wedding invitations done. I thought a
little do it yourself wouldn't be bad, especially with the kit we bought from Paper Source. It was much
harder than I imagined however. I also am looking forward to my copy of Harry
Potter arriving on Saturday. I promise not to read the entire thing in one day like
I did with The Order of the Phoenix. I also am planning on attending the
mariners game on Saturday. If Rafael Palmeiro goes hitless tonight, it might be
pretty crowded; however it would be worth it to see history get made. I've only
been at one other game with historical significance: When Nolan Ryan beat
the crap out of Robin Ventura. Anyway, here are the links for
today:
- U.S.S. Mariner - This is the
funniest comment I've ever read on a thread.
