Don't really have much to say today. How about some links?
- Pitchfork
Media - Throbbing Gristle have something truly special in store for people who
buy the first 4000 copies of Part Two. Each CD will contain one of four "totemic
gifts" embedded in its jewel case, made of either copper, bone, rubber or wood, and
hand-crafted "under Peter Christopherson's personal supervison in Thailand",
according to Throbbing Gristle's website. Whether or not those "totemic gifts" come
loaded with some kind of ancient curse is unclear. But hey, it can't be worse than a
Sony rootkit, right?
- MSNBC - Ten reasons
to drink during the holidays.
- engadget - Everything the
iPod should be. But of course since it's not an iPod it will fail miserably. Can I
rent the Steve Jobs reality
distortion field?

Okay, I got the Christmas tree up, but I didn't hang the pictures. That's on the
agenda for tonight. Other than that, I've got nothing.
- The God
Movie - Okay, the war on Christmas is now officially on!
- NY Times - I'm
beginning to think the Sony debacle was the best thing that could have happened to
people like me. All of a sudden the real media is paying attention to the horrors
of DRM.

- Ain't It
Cool News - Behold NACHO LIBRE!

Another weekend past. This one was actually fun though. Kathrine and I did a lot of
shopping done, although very little of it for christmas presents. Kathrine bought a
puffy white vest. It's pretty cool, even if it isn't the same as the one Leia wore
on Hoth. I got a few shirts and this awesome track jacket. We also finally got
to try eating at The Eating
Factory, which is worth a trip just because of the name. It was pretty good,
although I'm not sure it was worth the price. Other than that we didn't do a whole
lot this weekend. I was supposed to do some things around the house that I didn't
(hang pictures, put up Christmas decorations, etc.), so I'm going to try to do that
tonight. To make up for my lack of accomplishment this weekend, I've scoured the
net and brought a veritable cornucopia of links.

The weather wasn't so bad after all. It stopped snowing around 6:00 and didn't snow
anymore through the night, so getting to work today was no problem. Hopefully the
weather won't be too bad this weekend.
- Dallas
Observer - I love Gwar. In fact, I am a firm believer that everyone should see
Gwar once before they die. You should also watch Phallus in Wonderland, it
might just change your life.
- WOAI
- I applaud the idea. I see just one minor problem though. The people willing to
take them up on this offer are not the kind of people likely to have bibles laying
around.
- eWeek - Hello
Microsoft, 1975 called and it wants its features back. Honestly though, this is a
good idea.

It's snowing really hard outside, so much so that I can barely see the library that's
a block away. I think I may go home early to avoid all the crazies I know will be
out and about. Hopefully your weather is nicer than mine.
- The Stranger - Long
live the speakeasy. I really hope it doesn't come to this though. I do know that
I'm going to smoke in a bar this weekend, just because I can.
- Wired
- I think this is cool. And I'm upset that people are worried about it. Just goes
to show you that as soon as you break out the word nuclear, people run scared.
- Washington
Post - If this isn't illegal, it should be.
- Code Coffee - If
anyone else runs linux, you might find these tips useful.
- Empire
Online - I disagree with the order, but can't fault the list too much.
- Bonfire
Snow - This is a great idea, but why'd they have to make it so ugly?
- Slate - I've
actually read a few of the Left Behind books.

As some of you may know, I finally decided on the poker chips to buy. I decided to
go with the classic design from CHIPCO. CHIPCO manufactures chips for
actual casino's (The Hardrock, Palms, Circus Circus, Luxor, Bally's, and Foxwoods) so
these are high quality chips. I like the ceramic chips better than the clay chips
for some reason. They just seem more high tech to me. I ordered them a week ago,
and hadn't heard anything back; so I called today, and it turns out they are back
ordered and should ship in a week or two. I'd like to get them by 12/13 to use in
the work game that night, so keep your fingers crossed.
Anyway, enough about that. How about some links?
- The Morning
Call - Tell me is this, "the loss of companionship and comfort of his wife"
simply code for oral sex?
- The Onion
- It's sad when The Onion writes a story that would be believable were it published
anywhere else.
- The Jimi - I don't know why,
but I really desire this.

Okay, Thanksgiving wasn't that bad. The dinner itself was actually quite nice
(except for realizing my meat thermometer didn't work at about 10:30). All the
dishes turned out fairly well, and I barely burned Kathrine's stuffing. It was the
aftermath of holiday that kind of sucked. I had very little to do and just didn't
feel well. Then I got sick Saturday night/Sunday morning. Not good times. Anyway,
enough about that. Here are the links:
