I read an interesting quote today, thought everyone should read it:
All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce
the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger, it works the
same in any country

I'm finally working on getting the content in order. I added some new pictures. They're not the most recent,
but they needed to be added.
I also redid the Seattle page,
it's now more inline with what I know about Seattle.
Finally, I updated the Friends
& Family section to reflect the changes in peoples sites. If you want to be
included on here, just drop me a line.

After much painstaking effort, the page is finally all working. I studied up on my
XHTML, and now everything renders pixel perfect in all the major web browsers. It
also validates perfectly using the w3.org web validator. So now I guess it's time
to get the content back in order.

Well, I found a hack to IE that allows all the pages to display properly. So we
should be kosher again. I did remove support for IE5, so if you're still using that
ancient browser you do need to upgrade.

Something has just been brought to my attention. Since IE is not 100% standards
compliant (it can't handle some of the CSS stuff right), some pages aren't
displaying correctly. Now I can fix this fairly easily by detecting the browser and
showing a different page. Now what I need to know is if this is worth it for me to
do. Could I get a show of hands, or better yet and comment or email that lets me
know what browser your using?
If you don't know what other browsers are out there I would suggest the
following:
For linux or *BSD
Mozilla
Firebird
For Windows
Mozilla
Firebird
or
Opera
If you're on a Mac you should be using safari anyway. All of these are better
browsers than IE, so I promise you won't loose anything by switching. I will work
however on developing IE workarounds if alot of people use IE.

Okay, everything should be working now except my playlist. I'm working with some way
to integrate that with my file transfer to my nomad, so that might take some time to
get working.
I was able to implement a preview button on the comment posting. This is very
important because I have taken away your ability to use HTML in the comments. There
are a list of markup codes that are available to be used. You can see them from the
here.
So now the basic thing left to do is a content overhaul. Get all my content correct.
Then I'll be making a few format changes (possibly). I'm thinking of changing the
color scheme slightly. The layout will remain the same, so it will just be changes
to my style sheet.

Intresting article on AICN today about my
favorite and yours Jack Valenti. Apparantly, he's asking all the studies to stop
sending out "screeners" to film critics and academy members. Now, you could almost
understand his point, if this was limited to films currently under theatrical
release. Of course he insits that even films out on DVD and VHS must be excluded.
What sense does that make? If a pirate wants to make a pirate copy, why would he
take a screener copy and not simply copy the DVD? If this were about piracy, they
would simply make the individual copies easier to track so that they could discover
who was leaking these things and throw the book at them. I believe that this has a
much more sinister motive. The MPAA wants to make sure that only films put out by
studios they control get good reviews and a chance at the academy awards. The major
studios can afford the kind of marketing that get a film noticed, but films like
American Splendor don't have a chance unless they're sending out these copies
to reviewers and Academy Members.
I'm honestly getting very close to boycotting all media from MPAA and RIAA members.

I've got more up... although in doing so I inadvertantly lost yesterday's news. (I
accidentally dropped the mySQL database when I only meant to drop a table.) So, I
had to restore from a backup, but that's never fun. Anyway, the news works, and the
comments work. Those are the two hardes pieces to this thing. I should have the
rest online by the weekend. With some real updates no less.

Whew! Thought I'd never get back online didn't you? Silly you to doubt me. You see I
decided to upgrade my main workstation, and then change my webserver to *nix and
apache using PHP and mySQL. Of course, then I blew up the new computer and had to
RMA parts one at a time until I found the problem (faulty motherboard and CPU). Now
I have my machine up, my webserver running RedHat 9, my mySQL server chugging along,
and I'm slowly porting everything over. Within a week or two tops, everything should
be working again.

Does anyone else find this
story a little bit scarey?
